At a meeting yesterday, The Sarasota County School Board accepted the budget, its first under new Superintendent Terry Connor, with an increase of more than $330 million over last year.
According to the Herald Tribune, a high school in Wellen Park, set for 2025, will cost about $155 million.
Also, a K-8 school near Clark and Lorraine roads, also expected for the 2025 school year, will run about $85 million.
In a 4-1 vote, Chairwoman Bridget Ziegler was the lone dissenter, partly because she feels that state mental health initiative programs may not be as beneficial to Sarasota school kids as they are portrayed to be.
