More travel advisories issued against Florida
FLORIDA - The nation's largest LGBTQ advocacy group joins others in issuing Florida travel advisory.
According to the Herald Tribune, the Human Rights Campaign along with Equality Florida, which had already issued an advisory last month, posted an updated one for the LGBTQ community. In a press release, the two organizations warn LGBTQ people of the risks of traveling to the Sunshine State because of six bills passed this Legislative session that they say are "hostile."
Last week, the NAACP and the League of United Latin American Citizens, also issued advisories warning of hostility toward Africans American, Latino and LGBTQ communities. These advisories are due to Governor Ron Desantis' new policies. DeSantis, who is expected to officially announce his presidential campaign Wednesday signed into law four bills that directly or indirectly target transgender people and the broader LGBTQ community. He also signed a ban on state funding for DEI programs at Florida's public universities.
