MANATEE COUNTY - A 25-year-old woman is dead following a car crash in Manatee County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol the accident happened on I-75 near mile marker 214 around 4:30 pm Monday.

The woman experienced a mechanical issue in her car, stopped on the outside lane and exited her vehicle on the drivers side with the door open, and a second car collided with the woman. She came to rest on the grass shoulder and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other vehicles subsequently crashed  as well. There were no other injuries and the crash remains under investigation.
