MANATEE COUNTY - There seems to be a Portuguese Man O' War invasion in Anna Maria Island.

The Facebook thread on Anna Maria Island Life has a host of sightings and pictures today. People have spotted hundreds of Man O' War washed up on shore from Manatee Beach all the way to the North end, and some have been seen as far inland as the City Pier.

Whether you see them in the water or on shore, DO NOT TOUCH THEM! Their sting is like being wrapped in a live electrical cord. Their tentacles are long and most times difficult to see.

This is like the perfect storm for getting rid of people, or keeping them from coming down. Red Tide, mutating seaweed and now jellyfish on steroids.

Up in Fort Walton Beach thousands and thousands of Man O' War are invading area shorelines, both in the water and on the beaches.
