Catholic Charities offers financial assistance including short-term assistance for those struggling with being able to affordable housing. Catholic Charities Assistant Director Christy King says the need for housing assistance has been increasing throughout the years.

"The reality of it is, that most Americans are one paycheck away from becoming homeless, and this is especially true in the last few years since the pandemic.

King says the agency had around 3,000 calls asking for housing assistance this year.

"These are people living on a fix income. They budgeted and then they got a notice thirty days before their lease is up. It is like hey we are going to raise your rent by 600 dollars and with the lack of affordable housing options in the community, where do they go,"  King said.
