Airlines struggle with jet fuel shortage

Airlines across the country are encountering a similar problem - a shortage in jet fuel.
American Airlines announced earlier this week that they are experiencing a fuel supply shortage due to a lack of trucks and drivers.
American plans to bring additional fuel into airports that are being affected by the shortages.
Here in Sarasota, SRQ officials say they haven't experienced any shortages yet but they are preparing regardless.
"We just opened up two new tanks here at the airport," said Rick Piccolo CEO and President of SRQ. "That added 200 thousand gallons of fuel capacity, just in this past week. So we now have 300 thousand gallons for fuel capacity. We have enough to go three days without a delivery and we're added another hundred thousand gallon tank."
Fuel supply issue are mainly caused by a recent surge in travel.
Delays are expected to continue at least through mid-August.
