Top Interim Superintendent Candidate Doesn't Want Permanent Job
The top Sarasota interim Superintendent candidate says he doesn't want the permanent position. Now that Bill Vogel, whom the Sarasota School Board planned to name interim Superintendent, has stepped down from consideration, the Board must figure out who to turn to next.
Vogel, a former Florida Superintendent of the Year, had been a majority of the School Board's top choice to lead the district following former superintendent Todd Bowden's departure last month. But, Vogel told board members on Monday that he was no longer interested in the position. Vogel said Tuesday morning that he reached the conclusion that the district would be best served by a leader already known by the community.
Mitsi Corcoran is the interim ,interim superintendent, and Vogel told the board he felt they were best to leave it in her capable hands.
