SARASOTA - It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and these pups at The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods are enjoying a big present.

“Well we’re one of the few retirement communities that does allow dogs, and that’s why we wanted to put the paw park in. I think it’s going to bring so much joy to them to be able to just take their dog to the park whenever they want," says community life director Michelle Sayre.

Residents and their four-legged friends were joined by local vendors enjoying the park which Sayre says took The Fountains six months to create.

For many living on site, the convenience of a safe and clean space to bring their furry family members is priceless.

“To be honest with you, I was surprised by it all. I never expected it. We’re going to find out, this guy we’ll put him to work," says dog owner Frank Pollack.

And by “put him to work” he means his terrier Duffy, testing out all the new amenities.

Even with the park opening on National Mutt Day, Pollack has a bit of a different description for his spunky sidekick.

“No he’s not a mutt, he’s a pure bred trouble maker," says Pollack.
