Big Top Brewing Company celebrate Friendsgiving
SARASOTA - Before families gets together to celebrate Thanksgiving one Suncoast brewery is helping celebrate Friendsgiving.
"It’s Friendsgiving, you know so you have to show up, be a local, be a townie and get over to Big Top,” said Chris Wagner.
Since 2007 more and more people have started celebrating the day before Thanksgiving as a time to simply come together with friends and celebrate Friendsgiving. Big Top Brewing Company in Sarasota host their 5th annual Friendsgiving to say thank you to the community.
"It’s one of my favorite events that we do all year long," said Mike Bisaha, CEO of Big Top Brewing Company. "It’s really when we get to say thank you to the community whose been supporting us for over five years.”
Bisaha and his team provide the turkey’s for the annual potluck and only ask patrons to bring their appetites and some sides.
"There’s nothing – no easier way than asking all your friends to bring in a side and we give away free food and everybody just has a good time with their friends and family,” said Bisaha.
Lucy Janusz and Justin Mayfield stopped at the Big Top on their way to North Port for their first Friendsgiving at the brewing company. Mayfield says he enjoys the family friendly environment and a day of not cooking before the big day on Thursday.
"There’s a lot of people here of all ages, kinda just sharing a meal enjoying the holidays and getting ready for a day off tomorrow, said Mayfield. "I think it’s really neat that they’re doing this here and it’s really nice to see the community come out for it.”
Wagner and his friends have made a tradition of coming each year to celebrate their friendship over free turkey and of course some adult beverages.
"People in the community they get out here and they come together and it’s just a day to spend with family and friends, kid friendly, you know theirs music here and just a great group of people,” said Wagner.
And patrons who made it out to the Friendsgiving at the Big Top Brewing were also treated to being the first to taste the Glazy Daze, a double chocolate doughnut beer with pear and spice courtesy of a partnership with Five-O Donuts that's available for a limited time only.
