VENICE - For snowbirds who migrate south for winter, one restaurant hopes to lure you in with nostalgic back-home cuisine.

Snowbirds Grille in Venice opens its doors with a novel concept untapped in a market saturated with part-time residents escaping the cold.

“Why not do it? This area is filled with snowbirds that come down and they want something they can identify with, some flavors and some foods they like," says co-owner Justin Bloomquist.

The Bloomquists pride themselves on serving up myriad of authentically flavored menu items.

Snowbirds offers more northern niche items like Chicago style hot-dogs, New England clam chowder and of course Philly Cheesesteak which Ohio native Jeff McDaniel opted for.

"I thought it was very good. I like the menu, it was very varied, I mean a lot of choices," says McdDaniel.

The fast-casual restaurant which is decorated with snapshots of different northern landmarks also has regional beer and wine on rotation.

“It’s kind of a really neat experience that way for sure," says Bloomquist.

Snowbirds Grille is located at 4167 S Tamiami Trail in Venice and is open 7 days a week.
