Enchant Christmas transforms Tropicana Field into a winter wonderland
ST. PETERSBURG - The world’s largest Christmas light maze is right here in Florida. All you have to do on the Suncoast is gas up and go.
Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg undergoes a total transformation into a whimsical Christmas town as Enchant Christmas brings its holiday extravaganza to Florida for the first time.
This sensory overload homage to all things Christmas dazzles visitors.
“Well when you walk up there are giant reindeer outside. And it’s just twinkling everywhere, it’s so magical!" says visitor Karis Moyer.
Magical is what event producer Leanne Johnston aims for.
Enchant’s maze sends visitors on special Christmas mission to help find Santa’s reindeer after a storm leaves them lost in Enchant.
“When you go around the maze and you find all the reindeer it helps you make sure that you don’t miss anything because we have different worlds and themes and features and sculptures all over the place. It helps make it a more meaningful and immersive experience," says Johnston.
Surrounding the maze are local vendors set up in a traditional German Christmas market layout.
The big man himself Santa also awaits a visit, and the indoor ice skating attraction seems to be worth the wait.
Did we mention the 80 foot Christmas tree at the center of it all? Johnston says her hopes for Enchant come down to one thing.
"We want people to make this place where they can have a holiday tradition or make this a holiday tradition," says Johnston.
