Superintendent offers to Step Down in Exchange For 10–Year Contract
Sarasota Schools Superintendent Tom Bowden has offered to step down in exchange for 10–year contract . It's ahead of a special Sarasota County School Board meeting today to discuss the findings of a sexual harassment report. The report examines sexual harassment complaints made by Cheraina Bonner, that she was sexually harassed by Assistant Superintendent Jeff Maultsby and that Superintendent Todd Bowden didn't address the allegations properly. The outside investigation found that both men acted improperly.
Maultsby resigned after the district announced they planned to fire him. Now Bowden, in an email, has offered to resign if the School Board will make him executive director of school facilities. According to the Herald-Tribune, Bowden wants a 10 year contract and starting salary of $175,000. Today's special meeting begins at noon and is open to the Public.
Also today, the attorney for Cheraina Bonner will be serving the school board with a lawsuit for violation of Title Seven of the Civil Rights Act. The complaint was filed yesterday in US District Court for the middle district of Florida.
