SARASOTA - Halloween is a few days away and many on the Suncoast are getting into the spooky spirit.

Several local events are happening now through October 31st including an inaugural Trick or Treat on The Lake at Nathan Benderson Park Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m.

“We’re going to have lots of fun, games and contest and of course trick-or-treating, lots of candy. We will also be playing a movie out here on the playground on the green “The Nightmare Before Christmas," says SANCA CEO Stephen Rodriguez.

He anticipates Benderson’s frightful family-friendly festivities will draw in more than 1000 trick-or-treaters both young and not-so-young.

“There’s never an age limit. We will have teal pumpkins full of lots of non-candy options for those kids that have allergies," says Rodriguez.

Places like Ellenton Premium Outlets, Village of the Arts and Downtown Venice will also hold trick-or-treating events full of activities geared toward families.

Sarasota mom Joy Hill is happy to have so many safe Halloween celebration options.

“This allows a safety boundary where families can come out and socialize, get to know more people in the community. So, it’s a good outlet for the whole community," says Hill.

Of course, there are more spirited events geared toward adults such as Sage’s Haunted Mansion party in the historic Sarasota Times building.

Even the Players Centre is joining haunted forces with the Paranormal Society of Bradenton for a ghost-hunting Halloween Tour.
