Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is using Smartphone App to enhance communication between county's detectives and residents
CHARLOTTE CO - The free app is titled Ring Neighbor's App and it's a way for residents to provide each other alerts in real time about suspicious or crime related events.
"Our detectives are able to log into the app then communicate with a lot of our residents who are already using the app to share information with each other. Now they can also share that information and surveillance video with detectives," CCSO's Katie Heck said.
The app works by also allowing the detectives to reach out first.
"when we have a crime occur or a suspicious incident happens, detectives can reach out to an area on the app and ask people to submit their video," Heck said.
