SARASOTA COUNTY - So apparently, it's back to the drawing board, or back to the re- drawing board.

A consultant originally drew three maps with alternative district boundary lines, but The Sarasota County commissioners want to see a fourth. According to the Herald Tribune, the commissioners are concerned about inaccuracies in the data underpinning the effort. Commissioner Nancy Detert, along with several others, expressed dissatisfaction with three alternative district maps unveiled last month. These are maps about which the county solicited public opinion in a series of five community meetings over the last few weeks.

Commissioners want more direct input on the mapping process, so they asked the consultant, who said last week that it would be difficult to get a modicum of accuracy because much may change with the 2020 census. Commissioners want the map re-drawn prior to the census, and the 2020 election.
