Half Pint is coming to Sarasota. The 'Little House on the Prairie' star Melissa Gilbert who is also a children's hospice advocate will serve as the keynote speaker for next year's Tidewell Hospice luncheon. Gilbert will headline the 11th annual event on Feb. 20 at The Ritz–Carlton Sarasota.

The luncheon is the signature fundraising event for Tidewell Hospice, which provides services to nearly 9,000 patients in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties, regardless of ability to pay.

Gilbert rose to fame at 10 years old for her role on "Little House on the Prairie" as Laura Ingalls Wilder, or Half Pint, one of the Ingalls family's daughters. Her father was played by the late Michael Landon. Gilbert also served two terms as Screen Actors Guild president from 2001–2005.
