City is partnering with Florida Power and Light to create more energy-efficient lights in neighborhood
VENICE - FPL technicians will be replacing nearly 1 thousand high pressure sodium lights with more energy-efficient LED lights. The new lights will save the city on energy costs as well as benefit the environment. The new lights will have the same brightness as the original lights but they will produce a much higher-quality light that will not fade over time.
"So, the old light were very yellow and they actually fade over time so what you have with these older lights is a very poor light. They don't illuminate the road well," City of Venice Public Works Director James Clinch said.
