SARASOTA - The Sarasota Planning Board is throwing its support into the Selby Gardens garage.

It took weeks of hearings and hours of debate, but the Planning Board voted late Wednesday night to support a comprehensive plan amendment and a $92 million Selby Botanical Gardens construction project that includes a controversial five-story parking garage and rooftop restaurant.

It took several votes, with several different results, before the board gave its approval after a 3-2 vote late in the proceedings. The board's recommendation for or against the project will go to the City Commission, which has its own public hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. October 28th.
