SARASOTA COUNTY - Florida wildlife officers are investigating the circumstances around a beheaded alligator found in Sarasota County.

Kimberly Kukich was traveling along Lorraine Road on Monday when she spotted the mutilated creature.

Officers say the person who did this could face criminal charges, and they could be more serious depending on how the alligator died.

They're not ruling out the animal being hit by a car.

Anyone with info on the case should contact the FWC.
