Candidate joins race for Bradenton City Council Ward 5
BRADENTON- Bradenton native, Keenan Wooten formally announces his candidacy for Bradenton City Council Ward 5.
Wooten is a Southeast High School graduate and Vice President of the FAMU NAA Sarasota-Manatee Chapter. Wooten challenged incumbent City Council member, Harold Byrd, in 2016, losing by less than 400 votes. Now, there is an open seat in ward 5, and Keenan says he's ready and wants to fill it.
"As a third generation native of Ward 5, I believe there is no one who understands the people of this ward, more than me," said Wooten.
With more than a year until the 2020 election, only one other candidate, Eleuterio "Junior" Salazar Jr., has announced his run for councilman.
