Arrest made, two other suspects sought in Bradenton smoke shop murder
MANATEE COUNTY - A funeral was held Thursday afternoon for Mohammed Hamed, the 23-year-old Green Galaxy smoke shop owner fatally gunned down during a robbery at his Bradenton store late Tuesday night.
Manatee County Sheriff’s detectives made a quick turnaround in the shocking case, arresting shooter 20-year-old Amado Zeppi, charging him with second degree murder.
MCSO public information officer Randy Warren says detectives list James Brewer as a second suspect and claims more arrests are coming.
“There are other people that are involved in this robbery and subsequently homicide. There will be most likely additional charges; people will be arrested other than Zeppi," says Warren.
Warren says detectives have recovered the SKS rifle with attached bayonet used in this terrifying robbery turned murder.
“It appears that in the process of leaving the store after completing the robbery he swung the gun around with the bayonet on the end and struck him in the head and that’s when the gun went off," says Warren.
Hamed was fatally wounded from what detectives are calling a completely unprovoked attack.
A memorial for Hamed grows outside of his Bradenton smoke shop as family and friends continue to grieve.
