Sarasota Crew to break ground on new Osprey boathouse
SARASOTA COUNTY - One of the largest rowing programs in the country breaks ground on a new boathouse in Osprey Friday. The Sarasota Crew organization has been hard at work for more than five years to make a new facility come to life off Bayview Lane in Osprey.
The group purchased the 3.2 acre land, just down the street from their current headquarters back in 2014, but due to permitting issues, the project could not be completed by their goal date in September 2017.
Friday athletes and staff will finally break ground on the facility in a ceremony at 4 p.m. The boathouse is intended for the team but will be open to the public. No word on when it will be completed.
