"Save Our Y" launches 36-hour Pledge-A-Thon before deadline
SARASOTA COUNTY - As the fate of two Sarasota YMCA branches remains unclear, Save Our Y gives it one final push.
YMCA supporters are hopeful that Friday, the 13th will be a lucky one. At 5 p.m., a decision will be made, whether or not management passes over to the hands new group of board members, allowing both branches to remain open.
In the meantime, "Save Our Y" launched a 36–hour Pledge-a-Thon at 5 a.m. Thursday, where non–members can sponsor a Y member's workout to help the group reach $1 million before 5 p.m. tomorrow.
Marketing Coordinator, Joy Leitner said, "All this money really is pledge money. the pledge money is really a start up for our new business as a new YMCA is what we are hopeful for. We will continue to work, no matter what."
You can pick up pledge forms at both Sarasota YMCA branches or download one here. Tune into the SNN Evening Edition tomorrow at 5, where we will share the final outcome.
