Sarasota's Patterson Foundation is donating $250,000 for rebuilding the Bahamas in the wake of Hurricane Dorian. According to the Herald-Tribune, The Patterson Foundation has committed the money to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy's 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season Recovery Fund. It feels the fund has exhibited the expertise needed to address the various challenges affected areas may face long term.

Hurricane Dorian, a category 5, caused devastation across Abaco and on Grand Bahama Island. Disaster–recovery costs are expected to rise as officials continue assessing the damage, and donations typically decline following the immediate aftermath of a disaster.
