Kingsway Country Club to become golf course for resort
CHARLOTTE COUNTY - In this business marriage, the Kingsway Country Club in Lake Suzy will take the Sunseeker resort name
Allegiant Travel bought the country club in June 2018, and now it will get a major makeover next year and reopen in December under the company's Sunseeker Resorts subsidiary.
The club on Southwest Kingsway Circle will close for renovations in April. Upgrades will include a full redesign and refurbishment of the golf course, replacement of turfgrass, irrigation and drainage systems, and refurbishing of the clubhouse, restaurant and event space.
Golf architect Kipp Schulties, who has worked on more than 60 golf courses design projects including the Boca Raton Resort & Club and Quail Lodge Resort & Club, will lead the renovation of the course.
The golf club will be jointly operated with the Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor, which is 10 minutes away from the country club and expected to open by 2021. It was last renovated in 2005 after Hurricane Charley and is scheduled to reopen by December 2020.
Kingsway Country Club has a Par 72, 18–hole championship golf course and an 18,000–square–foot clubhouse with a pro–shop, dining and event facilities.
When it opens, the Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor on 22 acres will become the flagship destination for Allegiant Travel Co., the Las Vegas–based company that also operates Allegiant Air.
