SARASOTA - If there is going to be a change, Arlington Park residents want input.

Sarasota city commissioners are hoping to revitalize some areas into mixed–use developments that include affordable housing, but Arlington Park residents don't want developers to go forth on any re–zoning without consulting members of the public.

According to the Herald Tribune, the commission's goal is to re–zone for  commercial –residential complexes that allow people to shop where they live and work, while cutting down on traffic, but filling the need for housing.

Arlington Park residents, already unhappy about a proposal to build multi–family housing at the former Doctors Hospital site on Bahia Vista, viewed the ordinance as a power grab by developers that threatens their quality of life.
