SUNCOAST - Manatee and Sarasota have their fair share of movers and shakers.

Both were well represented on the list by Florida Trend magazine of the Sunshine State's most intriguing movers and shakers

Included on this year's list was Randy Benderson, CEO and director of Manatee County's Benderson Development.  Bradenton tennis legend Nick Bollettieri is in the Living Legends category; while Michael Crosby, president and CEO of Mote Marine Laboratory, is also on the list.

John W. Saputo, owner and president of Gold Coast Eagle Distributing in Lakewood Ranch, Teri Hansen, president and CEO of Sarasota's Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation; Jeff Jackson, president and CEO of PGT Innovations, and Rex Jensen, president and CEO of Schroeder–Manatee Ranch Inc., all are considered movers and/or shakers..

In the Retail/Wholesale category was Steve Knopik, CEO of Bradenton–based retailer Bealls Inc.; Pat Neal, founder and chairman of Lakewood Ranch–based Neal Communities, was included in the Real Estate category; also was named in Retail/Wholesale; while Larry Thompson, president of the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, was named in Education.

Another honoree with ties to the region was Diane McFarlin, dean of the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications and former publisher and executive editor of the Herald–Tribune.
