SARASOTA COUNTY- Ahead of Hurricane Dorian, Suncoast Blood Bank is asking anyone who is able to donate blood and platelets.
Director of Community Development, Jayne Giroux says it's the calm before the storm, but now is the time to donate.

"When we have an event like this, people still have traumas, they have cancer treatments that require blood products. those things are on going. Those don't stop because of the weather. We are a 24/7, 365 day operation," said Giroux.

Suncoast Blood Bank is open from 7am to 4pm and will have bloodmobiles in locations throughout the Suncoast.
