Oneblood asks for more donors in the face of Hurricane Dorian
NORTH PORT - Blood banks need your help now. As the threat of Hurricane Dorian becomes more defined on Florida, OneBlood is urging you to get out and donate blood regardless of your blood type. Experts say getting ahead of blood supply needs are vital before a storm hits.
“So we’re encouraging people to come out right now to build our blood supply to prepare us for this storm, to be a first first responder to protect the community to be sure we have a ready blood supply available at all times. Particularly now, because if the storm strikes there will be days where we may not be able to collect blood yet everyday patients in our hospital need blood that only donors can provide," says Dan Eberts with Oneblood.
Eberts says weather conditions after a storm hits could prevent not only their buses from going out, but donors from coming in as well.
