SARASOTA - Former SNN President Doug barker has died.

Barker and his wife, Linda DesMarais formed the company LDB Media to purchase SNN from the Herald Tribune and the New York Times in 2009.

He served in various leadership capacities, including  general manager, and was president when he retired from the station in 2016.

Before his time at SNN, Barker was a former minority owner of Sarasota ABC affiliate WWSB during a long career in the television news business.

Barker also served as president of Paxson Communications, now know as ION Communications.

The Herald-Tribune reports Barker died Saturday at age 75 in Atlanta, where he moved with DesMarais about a year ago to be closer to family.
