Veterans for cannabis are serving fellow veterans on the Suncoast
SARASOTA - Local vets learned about the health benefits of medical cannabis and some of the latest news about industrial hemp.
Air Force veteran and founder of the organization Veterans for Cannabis Joshua Littrell hopes to alleviate any negative connotations that may be associated with the use of medical cannabis.
He feels that the use of cannabis is a safe and useful alternative for veterans instead of going directly to the pharmacy.
"It's extremely important for veterans to have access to cannabis because first and foremost it saves lives. Veterans die at a a 50 percent greater rate from an accidental overdose than civilians do and that's absolutely preventable because nobody's ever overdosed and died from cannabis and nobody ever will," Littrell said.
