SARASOTA- It was the first day of school in Sarasota and Manatee Counties and schools were happy to welcome kids back to the classroom.

“Are you excited to come back to school today?” “Kind of” Brody said.

“I’m excited to see these bright smiling faces of our young students.” Principal Raymond Wilson said.

Principal Wilson says the teachers are just as excited for the first day as the kids.

“Just to see the little ones,” Wilson said. “Just to see them about on campus, and to see our middle school students as well, we just want to make sure we kick this first day off with a bang, and make sure that we have a very exciting and motivated first day of school.”

Wilson says the first day of school sets the tone for the whole year.

“Foundation is everything,” Wilson said. “So we really make sure that we’re getting our students pumped up, because we want them to be successful, and we want to make sure they know we’re here for them each and every day.”

“Seeing all my old friends.” Serenity said.

“Meeting new friends probably, this is my first year at this school.” Henslee said.

And everyone wants this year to be a good one.
