Sarasota dog track could become affordable housing
The Sarasota dog track is being looked at for an affordable rental community. New York developers , are betting that the most productive use of more than 24 acres of the Sarasota Kennel Club property is to build affordable housing for working families.
They will be sharing details of what could be 340 apartments and an assisted living facility at a community workshop required by city development rules on Wednesday.
According to the Herald-Tribune , the workshop is the first step in a quest to change the property's current commercial zoning to multi–family residential, and also to annex into the city of Sarasota a portion of the acreage that is currently part of Sarasota County.
The community workshop on the rezoning proposal will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sarasota City Hall Annex.
