Sarasota Co. Sheriff's Office introduces 15 smartphone apps for parents to monitor
SARASOTA - The Sheriff's Office arrested 25 people during a 4 day initiative focused on protecting Sarasota County children from online predators and human trafficking. Many of these suspects responded Internet-based ads, online apps, and social media sites to engage in sexually explicit written and verbal conversations. Detectives encourage parents to closely monitor just what their children are sharing on popular apps like Snapchat and Bumble.
"This is really a call to action to parents to educate their kids and gauge what their kids and know exactly what's going on with their phone. They really need to understand the risks of meeting with online strangers," Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Megan Krahe said.
