SARASOTA-  Sarasota’s Supervisor of Election is hiring! They are recruiting Bilingual poll workers to ensure that Spanish-speaking voters can easily vote.

The move to recruit Spanish-speaking poll workers comes after a Federal Court Order and directive from the Florida Secretary of State’s Office made It mandatory to provide Spanish language election materials and translation assistance. Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner says making sure everyone understand the voting process could encourage more people to vote.

“We’re always here to answer questions,” Turner said. “We serve all of the citizens and voters of Sarasota County and our priority is to make the process as easy as we can, and to be responsive to those individuals, to answer all of their questions, facilitate their voting rights, and to make the voting process as smooth for them and as comfortable because we want repeat customers, right, in our business, so we want them to continue to vote and feel comfortable in that process.”

The office needs bilingual poll workers for the 2020 March 17th primary, the August 18th primary and the November 3rd general election.
