Pick-up truck full of pool chemicals closes three lanes of traffic on I-75 Wednesday morning
SARASOTA - Troopers say the truck was traveling on I-75 near mile marker 204 just after 7 AM when it was cut off by an unknown vehicle. The driver veered towards the shoulder and overturned off the roadway.
Pool chemicals carried by the truck spilled across lanes of I-75.
Sarasota County Fire Department was then called in for a HAZMAT, shutting down all three lanes.
All lanes were made open later in the afternoon.
"If anybody has got a swimming pool we know what happens when you dump muratic acid into the water. You get the vapors and that's basically what you end up having is a vapor cloud and it started going across and the lanes and that's why the road had to be shut down," Florida Highway Patrol's Lt. Carvalho said.
