Skyway Casuals are loud and proud, and growing quicker than ever
SARASOTA -- Brace yourself, the Rowdies are coming and they have an army behind them in support. Competing in the United Soccer League, the Tampa Bay Rowdies sit atop the table, suffering a mere two loses in 21 matches played thus far, this season.
“Singing and chanting in full voice, smoke bombs going off, the drum pounding, it is an atmosphere like nothing else,” said Ian Linn, President Skyway Casuals. “A Friend gave me a set of tickets to a game, and it only took one game and I was hooked.”
Ian Linn, and Steven Connell had a vision back in 2016, to connect those South of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge to the Rowdies like never before.
“I think the first year we had about 35, and then this past year, our second year, officially operating, and we are over 50,” Linn said.
And just like that, the Skyway Casuals were born.
“There is nothing like it,” Linn said.
We are talking themed tailgates, bus trips to particular road games, and watch parties at the official hangout spot for the Skyway Casuals, The Shamrock Pub. The Rowdies play their final home regular season game, Saturday October 19th at Al Lang Stadium in St Peterburg. As we sit here today, the “Beasts of The East,” are on direct path for the playoffs. Of course, with the Skyway Casuals backing them all the way.
