Body is found by boater in Sarasota Bay
SARASOTA - The Sarasota Police Department responded to Sunset Drive in Sarasota to a call for a water rescue just before 9 a.m. after a boater reported seeing the body.
An unidentified adult black male was pronounced dead at the scene, and brought in at the 10th St. Boat Ramp. According to Sarasota Police Spokesperson Genevieve Judge, At this time it is not clear where he went into the water or how long he’s been there.
“We are trying to piece together a puzzle,” Judge said. “And so what our officer is trying to do, originally patrol officers respond to the scene and once we determine what kind of case we have they pass it over to the criminal investigations division. And what we’re doing right now is speaking with the boater who found the body in Sarasota Bay, and they’re also trying to figure out if there is any witnesses, anyone who might have seen this individual in the last couple of hours in the area to try to piece together what happened.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sarasota Police Department.
