SARASOTA COUNTY - Embracing Our Differences, known for their annual outdoor public art exhibition, is the recipient of this year’s Tourist Development Cultural / Arts grant from Sarasota County Commission to the tune of a little more than $50,000.

The nonprofit organization promotes diversity through its call to artist exhibition, educational programs and resources. Executive Director Sarah Wertheimer says this grant will allow them to make next year’s billboard-sized juried exhibition at Sarasota’s Bayfront Park slightly different.

“The funds will be used to put on this year’s exhibit which will be displayed for two weeks longer than we’ve ever displayed it in the past. So, it will be January 18 through April 5th of 2020, so we’re very excited about that. The funds actually help support the entire program, so the entire exhibit which really helps promote Sarasota," says Werthheimer.

Wertheimer says Embracing Our Difference is currently accepting artwork and quotes for 2020’s exhibit. The deadline to submit is October 8th. Wertheimer says 2019’s exhibition brought in 218,000 visitors. Since its inception in 2004 she says more than 2.9 million visitors have come for the outdoor public art exhibition.
