Manatee Commissioners working to reduce panhandling
Manatee county commissioners are working with municipalities to reduce panhandling. After a recent high profile, incident in which a man offered a job to a panhandler, who became aggressive, and after hearing several citizens complain, Commissioners said Tuesday they want a united effort to address vagrancy.
According to the Herald-Tribune the commissioners intend to raise the issue during a July 30 Council of Governments meeting with elected officials from the municipalities. The Bradenton City Council put the topic on the agenda of its Wednesday morning meeting. County Commissioner Stephen Jonsson said panhandlers frequently move between city police and Sheriff's Office
