Punta Gorda Police reminds parents to be wary of their children in cars
PUNTA GORDA - Did you know that between 1998 and 2017, 742 children have died from heat stroke in hot cars?
That is a staggering number and this is why the Punta Gorda Police Department is joining the national effort to promote always taking caution when you have your child in the car.
Reminders can be found on Punta Gorda PD's Twitter account with messages like #Where'sBaby and #LookBeforeYouLock.
The police department feels like this is a tragedy that can found in the Sunshine State all too often.
"We're trying to get people to really keep in mind that you need to be aware of what's going on and be aware that you've got a child with you," Punta Gorda Police Lt. Dylan Renz said.
