Orlando man flees traffic stop on way to own felony trial in Charlotte County
CHARLOTTE COUNTY - An Orlando man on his way to his own trial in Charlotte County is accused of dragging a Charlotte County deputy with his car.
The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting a Charlotte County Deputy pulled over Khalil A. Bynum on U.S. 41 near Chamberlain Blvd in the parking lot of a strip mall.
After pulling him over, Bynum allegedly sped off, but the deputy got trapped and dragged with the car.
The car then crashed into a support column of the strip mall, nearly hitting people nearby.
The deputy then managed to free himself from Bynum's car.
Bynum allegedly drove himself to the Charlotte County Courthouse to attend his own grand theft jury trial where he was found guilty.
He was then taken to the Charlotte County Jail on new charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and three counts of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
