SARASOTA COUNTY -  The Jewish Family & Children’s Services of the Suncoast surprised the students at Fruitville Elementary Monday morning with free books. JFCS spent months gathering the donated books for their program “Take a look, buy a book, donate” from the community. Kids had the chance to browse the selection and take home their favorite choice.

“ They walked in here all smiles, they saw the new books they knew they were getting a gift, a gift they could share with their friends and their families. This program works because of the school districts, they know that we have the books and we’re willing to share," says JFCS volunteer Sheila Birnbaum.

Birnbaum says teachers spent time making sure their students picked out a book that suited their needs.
