Red Tide back on the Suncoast
Unfortunately, red tide seems to be back. Low levels of red tide have been detected in waters off Manatee County. The Bay has been inundated with blue–green algae as of late, but, Just this week, the FWC announced that low concentrations of red tide cells were also found in Sarasota Bay.
FWC obtained the water sample from the Coquina South Boat ramp. Still, Mote Marine scientists say this is no cause for alarm. It does not necessarily mean that we're going to see a huge outbreak in a few months. It says Red tide is naturally found in our waters. An official points out that since the recent outbreak, more samples and more research is being done on red tide than at any point in recent memory. There are no reports of fish kills or respiratory issues and scientists will continue monitoring it.the Coquina South Boat ramp
