Venice - Thousands attended the 27th annual Venice Shark Tooth Festival over the course of three days.

For the first time in the festival history the Sarasota County Special Olympics hosted the event. 165 vendors provided entertainment, food, and of course the shark teeth. American Idol top 5 finalist Sam Wolf hit the stage and provided music for the crowd.

Some of the shark teeth available for purchase included fossilized Megalodon teeth.

“We have 22 different shark fossil vendors or prehistoric fossils, some are two million to 25 million years old. There’s literally something for everyone it’s a family event,” Randy Klingr, Director of the Sarasota County Special Olympics.

All proceeds of the festival will go to the Sarasota County Special Olympics to help the athletes continue their training.
