Lady Mustangs shut out the Lady Pirates in softball
MANATEE COUNTY - The Lakewood Ranch Lady Mustangs made the short trip down State Road 70 to face the Braden River Lady Pirates in a non conference game. The Pirates were looking to snap Lakewood Ranch's four game win streak.
The Pirates got into trouble early in the top of the first as the Mustangs scored three runs off of starting pitcher Maddie Lindsley. After a mound visit Lindsley struckout Kelsey Vogel to end the inning. Mustangs starting pitcher southpaw Claire Davidson pitched an outstanding complete game giving up two hits striking out 11 batters along with the shutout.
Top of the fifth the Lady Mustangs blew it open as Avery Goelz with a runner on first belts a two run homer out in right field to put Lakewood Ranch up 5-0. the Mustangs would go on to win 6-0.
