SARASOTA-  Elementary School students in Sarasota and Manatee Counties celebrated the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss. Hundreds of volunteers went in to read the students in different classrooms, and share with them classic Dr. Seuss stories. Books were chosen to match the grade level of all the students, and Embracing Our Differences chose stories that had themes of diversity, bullying, and respect for others.

“We do provide  the volunteers with a lot of different discussion points and activities they can do with the kids after reading the book,” Sarah Wethheimer said. “To really help them understand  these important messages.”

This is the 6th annual Emracing Dr. Seuss’ differences day, and they hope to continue to grow in the future.
