A tractor trailer truck caught fire Thursday causing a major traffic delay on I–75 in Sarasota County.

Florida Highway Patrol says it happened shortly before 12:30 P.M. near mile marker 213 on the northbound side of I–75.

The engine caught fire and the driver escaped unharmed.

Firefighters put out the fire while officers reduced traffic to two lanes on I–75.

Road crews cleaned up the burnt debris and the road is clear for traffic.
