(WFLA) - A new traffic pattern will commence Thursday on I–75 in Manatee County.

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) says the northbound exit ramp connecting I–75 and State Road 70 will have a new look.

Exits 217A and 217B will be consolidated into exit 217 and drivers deciding to travel east or west on State Road 70 only need to take one exit.

This is part of a new FDOT project to transform the interchange of State Road 70 and I–75 from a partial cloverleaf design into a modified diamond interchange.

Road crews will widen the lanes on I–75 to eight lanes on both sides from University Parkway to State Road 64.

State Road 70 will also get a makeover as lanes will be widened from Tara Blvd. to 87th St.

A bike lane, sidewalks and more crosswalks will be added.

The estimated cost of the project costs 80.8 million dollars and is expected to be finished in the spring of 2021.
