SARASOTA - Close to 400 kids received a holiday surprise of epic proportions Tuesday night at the Sarasota Lee Wetherington Boys & Girls Club. The North County Holiday Party, for club members 6-12 years-old had a chance to hang out with ESPN Television analyst, author and philanthropist Dick Vitale, and his wife Lorraine. The couple provided the organization with a $10,000 contribution to help purchase toys and gifts for each and every Boys and Girls club members.

The festivities fired up at 6pm, as each child was served a warm turkey dinner, courtesy of Boars Head. Kids then had an opportunity to participate in a variety of games, before entering the "Toy Room," where they each selected two gifts of their choice. The room was stacked to the rafters with toys for all ages.

The Vitale family has helped raise more than $1 million for the organizations award winning programs that help children, ages 6 to 18, succeed in school, become leaders and adopt healthy lifestyle habits. On top of the Vitale's participation with this event every December, throughout the year the family has been presenting scholarships to deserving Boys and Girls Club Members in Sarasota County since 1997.
